Gaming Consoles- Nintendo Wii: (2006)

We all remember how exciting most of Nintendo game consoles were in the past from the Nintendo Entertainment System which debuted in 1983 all the way up to the Nintendo GameCube released in 2001.   Each of the game systems released by Nintendo improved with quality over time which made for a remarkable gaming experience for fans of games such as the Super Mario series and the Legend of Zelda franchise.  As we progressed throughout the 80’s many have witnessed the birth many popular game titles. During the first half of the 90’s most of us were privileged to witness the refined 2D gameplay of popular Super Nintendo titles.  From the mid to late 90’s many of us got to enjoy the 3D glory of the Nintendo 64 game console and during the early 00’s we had the Nintendo GameCube.

Since the development of the GameCube console in 2001 many people had wondered how the Nintendo was going to compete with the likes of Microsoft and Sony.  In late-2006 the world had witnessed the release of the Nintendo Wii which provided a more innovative form of gameplay in comparison to consoles of previous generation.  The Nintendo Wii features exciting gameplay with hardware such as the Wii remote and nunchuk.  Such new items allow players to take action while play specific games opposed to just pressing buttons.  The use Gamecube controllers is included in the Nintendo Wii as well due to its backward compatibility which also allow people to play many games from the previous generation as well.

Similar to PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 the Nintendo Wii included a pretty cool dashboard that provides people various options from surfing the Internet to playing downloadable games purchased from the Wii Shop.  Along with downloading many classic titles people had the privilege of enjoying some of Nintendo’s top games such as Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Super Mario Galaxy, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Sonic Colors and much more.  Over the years, Nintendo has found different ways to expand its fan base during the console wars and while the gaming world was evolving in the early 00’s it would be safe to say that they had found a way to make their product more innovative than ever.
