Retro Gaming- Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo: (1996)

Super Puzzle Fighter 2 is a pretty cool tile matching game that many people remember from the mid 90’s  This game includes some of your favorite characters from the Street Fighter series including Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Sakura, Dan and Akuma.  Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo also features a few characters from the DarkStalker series including Donnovan, Morrigan and Felicia.  Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo was a pretty cool title matching game because it was creative.  In this game players were required to match up different titles based on their color in order to perform chain combos.  Similar to games such as Puyo Puyo, Kirby’s Avalanche and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine the player’s goal to match up enough gems of the same color to prevent their grid from being full to avoid losing.  Similar to that of Puyo Puyo matching up objects of similar colors causes the opponent’s grid to fill up faster.  The cool thing about pulling off chain combos in Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo is that each character can perform special or super moves depending how many gems they are able pop in a row.

The soundtrack for Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo was pretty cool since it featured remixed versions of theme songs for various characters from their respective series.  Also, characters had their own stages from certain games including Street Fighter Alpha and DarkStalkers.  Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo was among one of the more lighthearted title  in the the Street Fighter series and was an excellent tile matching game to play with friends.  The arcade mode for Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo was exciting along with the training mode which could people become better at the game as they try to complete it on much harder levels.  When it comes down to retro gaming Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo is a fun game to play for fans of the Street Fighter series because its suitable for both adults and children.
