Exclusive Japanese Games That Deserved American Releases (Part 1)

There were so many cool games during the 80’s, 90’s and the 00’s that were released exclusively in Japan that many people wanted to see in America.  When it comes down to the gaming world many people are quite fond of the 16 bit era.  During the 16 bit era there were some games in the early 90’s that had plenty of potential and were considered to be pretty decent games but they were not available outside of Japan.  Below are some games that are considered to be remarkable but remained exclusive in Japanese gaming markets.

dragon-ballz super saiyan densetsu

1) Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu: (1992)

This Dragon Ball Z game was probably one of the few titles that many people honestly believed deserved to be released in America.  This RPG/Card battle game looked great for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and had a very unique battle system.  Dragon Ball Z Super Saiya Densetsu includes the Saiyan, Namek and Frieza Saga and features some of the most popular characters in the series such as: Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Piccolo and many more. One of the most interesting things about this game was the secret boss battle against a Super Saiyan Vegeta depending on how the player made it through the Namek/Frieza saga.  Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Densetsu seemed like it had a lot of potential and makes fans of the DBZ series wonder how well it would have done in terms of sales in America during the early 90’s.

2) Yu Yu Hakusho: Makyou Tohissen: (1994)

This multiplayer fighting game for the Sega Genesis was definitely one that some people would have loved to see in America back in the early 90’s.  Even though, the Yu Yu Hakusho did not become popular in America until the early 00’s during its time on Toonami the series had some pretty cool games back in the early 90’s.  One of the things that was unique about Yu Yu Hakusho: Makyou Tohissen was the fact that the game itself looked like a cross between an multiplayer arcade game and a Neo Geo title.  While some might argue that the graphics for Makyou Tohissen can be better the gameplay itself is absolutely great.  When it comes down to fighting games from the 16-bit era some would argue that  Yu Yu Hakusho: Makyou Tohissen is considered to an underrated fighting classic for the Sega Genesis.

Seiken Densetsu 3

3) Seiken Densetsu 3: (1995)

When it comes down to classic RPG titles for the SNES Seiken Densetsu 3 is definitely among one of the few games that deserved to be released in America.   As many people know this game is suppose to be the sequel to the Secret of Mana which was released for the SNES back in 1993.  Almost everything about Seiken Densetsu 3 was impressive including the gameplay, graphics along with the soundtrack.  Games such as Seiken Densetsu reminds many people who grew up during the 16 bit era about how Nintendo and Square Enix worked together to make remarkable RPG title during the late 80’s and early 90’s. If Seiken Densetsu 3 was released worldwide opposed to only Japan the game could have possibly have sold over one million units worldwide like the Secret of Mana eventually did for the SNES.
