Will we see another Star Fox game for the Nintendo Switch?

There is no doubt that the Star Fox series has been popular on Nintendo consoles for over two decades now.  Since the release of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in the early 90’s most of the Star Fox games have been very fun the play especially the earlier ones.  The very first Star Fox games for the SNES was truly innovative due to the use of the Super FX enhancement chip the cartridge had contained.  Not only did the Super FX chip enhance the quality of the game but it also provided an unforgettable gaming experience along with having one of the best soundtracks in the entire series.  In terms of visuals and graphics the Star Fox titles for Gamecube and the Wii U were probably among the best.

Even though Star Fox Assault and Zero did not sell quite as much the first two games there were features in both games such as cutscenes and great storytelling that contributed to the appeal of those titles.  Just because some of the latest Star Fox titles have not sold as much as the older games does not mean that many people have no desire to see it continue.  As of right now we have not heard anything in relation to a new Star Fox game for the Nintendo Switch just yet.  But hopefully as we get towards the end of the year the creator of the Star Fox series Shigeru Miyamoto along with the rest of Nintendo will make some type of announcement regarding a new game.

Will Zelda Breath Of The Wild Surpass Twilight Princess In Sales?

Since The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released earlier in March many people have been purchasing the game due to the popularity of the Nintendo Switch.  Zelda: Breath of the Wild similar to Twilight Princess which was released during 00’s came out on the same day as the game console did.  The fact that Nintendo had already had released a Zelda game before a Mario title for the Switch goes to show everyone how popular series truly is.  When the  Wii was first released in November 2006  the sales for that console were incredible and eventually when on to be Nintendo’s best selling home console ever.  Since its release the Nintendo Wii has sold over 101 million units worldwide while The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess managed to sell over 7 million copies.  As of right now there are not too many games available for the Nintendo Switch since the console is brand new.  However, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is currently the main attraction for the Nintendo Switch and since its release the game has reportedly sold at least 187,379 units in Japan during its first week.

While Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a great game for the Nintendo Switch the game takes up almost half of the storage space on the console.  While some people may complain about the amount of gigabyte storage it takes up others would argue that the experience is well worth it.  The cel-shaded graphics and the optimal visual features that Breath of the Wild has makes the game very appealing.  Also, the lighter tone Breath of the Wild uses in comparison to the darker vibes of Twilight Princess makes this game an interesting addition to the series in general.  As of right now it may be too early to tell whether or not Breath of the Wild will eventually surpass Twilight Princess in terms of sales.  But its quite possible that in seven or eight years that Breath of the Wild can be recognized as one of the best selling games in franchise’s history.

Nintendo Switch sells over 1 million game consoles

I was just announced not to long ago that the Nintendo Switch game console has sold over 1.5 million consoles worldwide in less than a month.   The fact that the Nintendo Switch has produced a record amount of sales within such a short period time is an incredible feat for the company Nintendo.  Along with the Switch console itself the game that everyone wanted to buy was the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild which has also did great in sales during a short period of time.  It was without a doubt that the Switch console was more appealing to customers than Nintendo’s previous game system the Wii-U which was released back in 2012.

The cool thing about the Nintendo Switch is that console includes 32 GB and is priced for the same amount as the Wii-U Basic which only included 8 GB when it was first released for the price of $300.  In terms of pricing Nintendo has decided by much wiser while reinventing themselves by giving people a new product that is both innovative and ground breaking.  The current expectations that people have right now is that at least 6 to 8 million Switch consoles will be sold in the year 2017.  As of right now the console is off to a very good start in terms of sales for the Nintendo Switch and we can only expect that things will get better as more games are released for that console over time.

Retro Gaming- Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance: (2002)

When it comes down to great fighting games of the 00’s one of the top titles that comes to mind is Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance.  When this game was developed by Midway Games and release in 2002 many people were impressed by variety of things that Deadly Alliance had added to the Mortal Kombat series.  The gameplay for Deadly Alliance had given characters multiple fighting styles with one of them including the use of weapons.  While giving characters different fighting styles was a cool feature it also meant that players had to know more about who they select in order to use them effectively during battles.  Another cool thing about Deadly Alliance was that Midway brought back the “Test Your Might” mini game from the original Mortal Kombat game which was not included in MK II-IV.  Along with bringing back the “Test Your Might” mini game Deadly Alliance had included two new game modes known as Krypt and Konquest mode.  Konquest mode was a tutorial that helped players master different characters in the game while earning coins.  Krypt mode allowed players to unlock different coffins that required a specific amount of coins ranging from gold to silver.

The fact that players were also allowed to earn coins after battles or following the completion of mini games was a nice feature.  Earning coins after winning battles or completing task made players feel like they were being rewarded for their progress. In addition, to earning coins to unlock a variety of new things throughout the game Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance had added some new characters.  Along with playing as some of the returning characters from previous games Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance features some new ones including Blaze, Frost, Bo’ Rai Cho, Mavado, Li Mei, Nitara, Kenshi and others.  Along with having new character two popular ones Liu Kang & Shao Kahn were killed in the intro after being ambushed by Shang Tsung and Quan Chi.  Since its release the game has sold over two million units for the PlayStation and close to one million for the Xbox.  While its debate on whether Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is the best game or not many would argue that it was definitely one of the coolest games that Midway had released during the 00’s.

Classic Gaming- WWE Smackdown Here Comes The Pain: (2003)

When it comes down to pro wrestling games in the 00’s WWE Smackdown Here Comes The Pain was arguably one of the best ever.  This game was developed by Yuke’s and published by THQ prior to its release in the fall of 2003.  There were so many things about this game that many people were amazed by such as the gameplay, graphics, roster, along with the season mode.  Not only did this game feature a star studded roster with some of the biggest names in pro wrestling but it also had one of the best season modes that a fan of the business could ask for.  Before starting the season mode in this game players have the option to organize the talent of the Raw and Smackdown rosters while choosing the moral alignment of each superstar.  As the season progresses players can eventually change thei alignment of their characters from babyface to heel and vice verse depending the decisions they make and what storyline they are involved in.  Along with having interesting storylines that game allows players to challenge for multiple titles depending on how many superstar points have.

The cool thing about holding titles in this game was that it allowed players to earn a little bit more money than usual if they won their matches.  As far as matches were concerned Smackdown Here Comes The Pain was the first game to introduce the Elimination Chamber which is still popular to this day.  Also, Here Comes The Pain included Bra & Panties matches which was something that was also  popular during the 00’s.   Along with having a great season mode and so many characters to choose from the gaming mechanics for Here Comes The Pain was very realistic.   Everything from the grapple to the submission system looked impressive and was more detailed in comparison to Smackdown: Shut Your Mouth.  When this game was released in the early 00’s it felt like it was ahead of its time.  Many pro wrestling fans have been waiting for over a decade to see another game like Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain.  There were countless things to do in this game and there were also so many legends to choose from.  Also, the season mode was quite possibly one of the best that anyone would see in a pro wrestling game period.

Retro Gaming- Unreal Tournament: (1999)

When it comes down to first person shooter games the Unreal Tournament may possibly be one of the most recognizable titles in the history of that genre.  Before we had the Halo series for Xbox there was the Unreal Tournament which was developed by Epic Games & Digital Extremes.  In the late 90’s the original Unreal Tournament was released for Microsoft Windows in 1999 along  being available for consoles such as the PlayStation 2 and Dreamcast during the early 00’s.  The graphics for the Unreal Tournament at the time was great and seemed like it was ahead of its time considering the fact that it had utilized the original Unreal Engine developed in 1998.  The Unreal Tournament was a game that many people may have  preferred for Microsoft Windows over the console versions since it provided exclusive features such as level editing feature.  Along with being a pretty cool 3D first person shooter title the Unreal Tournament had an interesting plot that took place around the 24th century.

The formation of a new world government during the war between the humans and Skaarjj had seemed fascinating but at the same time frightening.    Despite, how scary the plot may have seemed the Unreal Tournament had provided people with a series of gameplay options including Death Match, Last Man Standing, Assault, and Dominion.  The original Unreal Tournament had included a variety of game modes that would keep players busy for many hours, months or even years until Unreal II: The Awakening was released between 2003-2004.   When it comes down to first person shooter games the Unreal series was one among many that was popular with teens and young adults during the 00’s.  Even though, the very first Unreal Tournament game was pretty good the series had only improved as time progressed.  In terms of which Unreal game is the best in the entire series is debatable but some would probably consider the second installment to be in that category.

Will Tekken 7 have higher sales than Tekken 6?

It has been well over nine years since Namco had released Tekken 6 for multiple game consoles including the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable.  Out of the three game consoles Tekken 6 has sold the most on the PlayStation 3 reaching over two million units worldwide while the Xbox 360 hit over one million.  As of right no Tekken 7 looks like its going to be a very promising fighting game especially considering the fact that Bandai Namco Entertainment are utilizing the Unreal Engine 4.  Along with having an optimal game engine Tekken 7 is said to be the final chapter in the game’s series.   The fact that the Tekken series is coming to an end would definitely be a huge factor that would contribute to Tekken 7 having high sales once its released in June 2017.  Along with having new game mechanics such as “Rage Art” and the “Power Crush” system Tekken 7 includes Akuma from the Street Fighter series as a playable character in the game.

The good thing about Tekken 7 is that it features many returning characters from Tekken 6 including Alisa Bosconovitch, Lars Alexanderson, Jin Kazama, Kazuya Mishima, Heihachi Mishima, Nina Williams and more.  The Tekken series is nothing short of legendary in the realm of gaming within the fighting genre.  Since Tekken 7 is supposed to be the final chapter to the Iron Fist Tournament many people were fans of the series since the early 90’s would probably be astonished and at the same time bummed by the fact that the series is coming to an end.  While Tekken 7 is game that would look appealing to modern day gamers the fact that its probably the final game in the series would definitely be enough for old school gamers to reach down into their wallets to purchase it.

Retro Games- Bloody Roar: (1997)

When it comes down to memorable 3D fighting games of the 90’s one of the many titles that instantly comes to mind to some people is Bloody Roar which was developed by Eighting  & Hudson Soft and published by Sony Computer Entertainment back in 1997.  When the original Bloody Roar game was released in the late 90’s many people were impressed by various aspects of the game including the graphics and fast paced gameplay it had to offer.  One of the most unique things about Bloody Roar was the fact that characters had the ability to transform into zoanthropes during the middle of battles after filling up their Beast gauge and entering that mode.  The gameplay in Bloody Roar also impressive because looked and felt smoother and faster than other 3D fighting titles that were popular at the time such as the first two Tekken games and along with the Virtua Fighter series.

In fact some people would probably agree that the Virtua Fighter series looked generic in comparison to the Bloody Roar in general.  Those who have played the arcade version of Bloody Roar would probably argue that the game was just as good for the PS1 following its release.  As cool as Bloody Roar was in the late 90’s the game did not sell as much as other popular 3D fighting titles such as the Tekken series worldwide.  But just the sales for Bloody Roar paled in comparison to other 3D fighting titles does not mean that the quality of the game itself was not as good.  The original Bloody Roar game along with the second installment in the series probably deserved way more credit than it got back in the day.  Shockingly, since its release back in the late 90’s there was never a remake to the original Bloody Roar game which some would say is a shame considering the fact that it was one of the most exciting 3D fighting tiles for the PS1.

Classic Gaming- Mortal Kombat 4: (1997)

Mortal Kombat 4 was the fourth installment of the series and was originally released as an arcade game by Midway back in 1997.  Out of all of the games within its series Mortal Komabt 4 probably stands out the most.  Not only did Mortal Kombat 4 feature new characters and bosses but it was also the first 3D game within its series.  When Mortal Kombat 4 was first released many people were impressed by the fast paced gameplay that it had to offer.  Unlike the previous games each character had the ability to pull out their own custom weapon while being able to grab items such as boulders of the ground in order to toss them at their opponents.  Along with being able to utilize weapons the side step feature of Mortal Kombat 4 was another aspect about this game that stood out since it added realism to the battles.  As far as realism is concerned Mortal Kombat 4 had some great graphics for its time and was always fun to play on PlayStation, Nintendo 64 or the Sega Dreamcast.

While this game introduces a couple of new characters such as Kai, Fujin, Reiko, Tanya and Jared we also see the return of many familiar faces such as Liu Kang, Jonny Cage, Reptiles Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Jax, Sonya and Raiden.   Some people may argue that the boss characters in Mortal Komabat 4 such as Shinnok, Quan Chi and Goro were not too difficult in arcade mode but that general varies based on option and how skilled people were at the game itself.  Along with having good graphics there were various aspects about Mortal Kombat 4 that made the game enjoyable including the level of creativity the developers had put into the stage designs especially when it came down to pit fatalities.  In Mortal Kombat 4 each character had a special ending and the voice acting that went into developing them was pretty cool because it felt like you were getting more after completing the game in comparison to MK II & MKIII.   Mortal Kombat 4 is generally regarded as one of the coolest 3D arcade classics of its time along with the likes the Tekken series simply because it provided players with an unforgettable gaming experience.

Will Nintendo eventually release a Switch console with more Gigabytes?

There is no doubt that the Nintendo Switch was very impressive in terms of sales during its first week.  Not only did the Nintendo Switch sell over 300,000 units within it first week in Japan but one of the most popular games for that console The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was considered to be a success in terms of sales during its first week by reaching over 186,000 units.  Even though, Breath of the Wild looks incredible on the Nintendo Switch the game reportedly takes up 13.4 GB of storage space on a console that only has 32 GB.  However, the amount of storage contained on the Nintendo Switch can be increased with the use of the micro SDXC & SDHC cards which can reportedly add over 500 GB to the console in terms of storage.  The only problem that some people may have with buying micro cards for the Nintendo Switch is that it increases how much customers will have to pay aside from the console itself.

While purchasing micro cards for the Nintendo Switch is optional it would eventually become a necessity if many people decide to buy more games along with saving all the data to the system’s hard drive.   As of right now the Nintendo Switch is a brand new game console and only has a few games that are currently available making the storage issue a minor problem for the moment.  Not too long ago Nintendo’s top competitors in the video game industry Sony and Microsoft had added massive amounts of storage space to their respective consoles as an upgrade to the original game systems.  Many people can buy an Xbox One that includes 1TB or a PlayStation 4 Pro that includes 1TB of hard drive storage within the game system itself.  But if we look back at the Wii-U Deluxe it had included up to 32 GB of storage which is the same amount that the Nintendo Switch is currently starting off at.  With micro cards to expand the amount of storage on the Switch many would probably argue that another model with more gigabytes would be unnecessary.  If Nintendo does decide to release updated models of the Switch console with more internal storage space it would probably be a while before it actually happens.
